Ignite Studios Ltd & Media Design School are collaborating on an academic mentoring programme for students studying the Diploma of Creative Technologies.
       
 
Collaboration Overview
Media Design School and Ignite Studios pin-pointed areas of potential research within the creative technologies sector, with a specific focus on the games development industry.

Ignite Studios provide work place mentoring and equipment for the students, in-turn the students provide creative technology intellectual property to Ignite Studios.


Growing Auckland's Game Development Community
The project contributes to developing New Zealand's creative technologies industry and works on three levels for three groups of people:
  1. Students - the project provides the students with work place experience at an approved creative technologies studio.
  2. Media Design School - the project provides an avenue for students to complete their qualification.
  3. Ignite Studios Ltd - the project provides an avenue for the studio to complete research & development at lower market cost.

Outcomes
The key desired outcomes of the project are:

  1. To move students from qualification into full-time employment.
  2. Develop the industry relevance of the academic institution.
  3. Develop the capability of emerging creative technologies studios.

Project Aims

  • To provide a development environment (physical working space and methodology) that enables and rewards creativity, innovation and expression.
  • To collect a team of new talent that adds new knowledge to existing projects and enabling new directions and possible revenue streams.
  • To always be at the bleeding edge and a definer of ‘the bleeding edge'.
  • To develop a technology project(s) that are investment ready in 32 weeks.
  • To conduct research into a variety of tool-sets and development methodologies.
  • To assess possible partnerships with other companies and individuals.
